Mother as Priestess of the Home

As women we have the sacred opportunity of nurturing the spiritual life of our children and our home.  A priestess, in this context, refers to a woman who cares for and nurtures the spiritual dimension of life, or one who is a spiritual leader.  We become the priestess of our family through our commitment to teaching, inspiring and prioritizing spiritual awareness and values such as compassion, love, generosity, goodness, ceremony, prayer and more. A woman can be devoted to a particular religious tradition and also be the priestess of her home, following the teachings of that religion.

This class is an opportunity to explore the many different ways that we women naturally embody the Divines Feminine, and the variety of ways that we can express this in our home.  Each week will shine a light on the power and blessings that we mothers can offer our families when we embrace our priestess within and bring her forth in simple, everyday ways that support the home environment. We will also learn how our inner priestess can help us personally to keep our spirit strong, nurture the web of life, and dance in the alchemy of motherhood.

This class is optimal for women who feel called to a spiritual path and who are open-minded toward other women who may have different spiritual practices.

WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS

May 18 – June 22, 2021

7:30 – 9:00 pm Mountain time, on-line on ZOOM

SESSION ONEDefining the Role and Power of the Priestess

The world needs us women to more directly take responsibility for the spiritual welfare of our families.  At this time we have completed the larger cycle of giving men the power to control the spiritual dimension of life. We have completed the pattern of differing to religious leaders to tell us how to live, what to believe and what is, or is not, part of the spiritual life.

The baton has been passed to the women at this time and we are called to step up and embody the archetype of the Priestess in our everyday lives, especially given the many influences that pull us away from spiritual living.  However, there are also many methods and teachings currently available that remind us that we are spiritual beings and there are so many ways of connecting with the Divine. The Priestess archetype calls us to express and live as the inspired, whole spiritual beings that we are.

SESSION TWONurturing the Heart, Body, Mind and Spirit of our Family

This session will focus on the four aspects of health that must all be nurtured for better spiritual living: Body, Mind, Spirit/Soul, Heart/Emotions.  We will discuss the importance of attending to all four aspects and how to incorporate practices which nurture each of these areas.  Focusing on the body we will look at daily routine areas of health such as nutrition, sleep habits, exercise and time in nature.  Nurturing the mind looks at what is needed for good mental health and how to instill good habits in our children regarding their mental “diet”. Tending to the heart and emotions spotlights the importance of taking time regularly to be with our children on an emotional level. And nurturing the spirit/soul of our family is done in many ways that can be both obvious, like going to church, or not so obvious, like expressing gratitude on a regular basis.

SESSION THREE – Raising Your Own Vibration with Spiritual Practices

In this session we will discuss what I call “High Thymus” living as a service to our families.  The thymus gland is a lymphoid organ of your immune system and when it is functioning well you have a strong immune system and can adapt to foreign invaders.  “High Thymus” living is a way of keeping yourself strong by developing habits and practices that help you stay connected, motivated, and positive about life.

There are many things you can do to help you stay inspired and renewed on a fairly regular basis. For some it is choosing a meditation practice to help quiet the mind.  Others may prefer alone time in nature, or engaging in some form of prayer to connect with the Divine.

There are many practices that work. But it is crucial that we incorporate them into our day or our week so that we know how to renew our own spirit on a regular basis.

SESSION FOUR – Being Carriers of the Seeds and Nature Rituals

There are many ways to waken your spirituality through your connection to Mother Earth. Part of living a spiritual life is recognizing that everything is sacred.  Working with the earth can be a sacred practice if we recognize that nurturing the web of life through gardening or tending to plants or animals nurtures both the present and the future for our children and the creatures who will support their wellbeing.  If we don’t have healthy bees, birds, trees and ecosystems, then we won’t have healthy children and grandchildren. This connection to the natural world is another doorway for the Priestess to bring her gifts and power to the world.

SESSION FIVE – Behind the Scenes Alchemy

Working on the energetic level is as important as working with the physical level, but the alchemy here is that even a little bit of work on the energetic level goes a long way.  What I mean by the energetic level is the level of the unseen realm.  This is where prayer, meditation, guided visualizations, and intention setting come in, for example.  There is a new understanding of reality that science is putting forth which tells us that everything is energy.  Matter is energy that is just moving really slowly, so things appear to be solid.  But it’s all energy, and Spirit is the energy behind all Life.

In this session we will discuss the alchemy of a mother’s influence on her children and the power a mother has to positively affect the internal dialogue of her children and what they believe about themselves.  As well we will focus on the use of guided meditations and visualizations to support your child from the spiritual realm.

SESSION SIX – Priestess as Mother, Healer, Lover and Way-Shower

In the last week we will look at the four main archetypes that the Priestess/Mother embodies most frequently.  We will look at the nurturing qualities of the Mother, not only in how she nurtures her family but how mothers can nurture the innocence in her children, the quality of beauty in her home, and care for the environment and Mother Earth.

We will look at the various ways mothers are Healers, healing conflicts in our family, challenges, helping the sick, even healing generational patterns.  As a Lover, the priestess/mother remembers to bring love into everything she does, from crafting to cooking, from caring for animals to exploring the power of sexual love beyond physical pleasure.

And as a Way-Shower, the mother/priestess remembers to do her own personal work to overcome fears, limitations, inadequacies or addiction.  By doing so she becomes an example of one who is always growing and evolving into a better version of herself.
