I believe we are at a privotal time on the planet and that there is a growing awakening among many people to live more conscious lives and bring forth a more thriving, sustainable, peaceful and healthy planet for all. And I believe that the role mothers have in the family and how we parent our children are huge contributions to a more healthy, thriving future for all.
Like so many mothers I am committed to my family and to my children. Learning how to be a better person, mother and spiritual being every day is my way of living in gratitude and contributing to the Light in the world. And I know well the ups and downs of motherhood, the rewards as well as the struggles and sacrifices. But connected to my larger vision, I know too how important my role as a mother is as a change maker for the future, even if on a small scale. I see how the tone that I set and the environment I create in my family influences my children in a multitude of ways. But bringing my best self to the table has been a continual growth process.
In my journey as a mother, it is so clear to me that where I am feeling stuck or drained, frustrated or challenged, my parenting gets affected, negatively! Whether it is because of relationship issues with my husband or someone else, places in my own life where I have felt less than or disempowered, or frustrations around my work in the world, these issues have impacted my parenting. Any one of these issues could become the program running in the background that caused me to lash out with impatience or irritation toward my children, or be unavailable to them emotionally. Through it all I have realized that parenting is part of my spiritual journey, pushing me to my edges and inviting me to grow and evolve beyond them, not only for my sake but for my children’s sake.
My journey as a mother has included being a step mom, a working mom, a single mom, a home school mom, a stay-at-home mom, and a dorm mother at a boarding high school. So I’ve had a multitude of experiences to grow through and it has been deeply rewarding for me, although not always easy or without the sacrifices of juggling family and work. My daughter has graduated from college and my son is in his teen years, and they both are wonderful people and great kids. I home schooled each of them during their elementary school years. We are close and our relationships keep expanding as they grow into the people they are discovering themselves to be.
I have a B.A. in Psychology and am certified as a Holistic Coach with Awakenings Institute. As well I have been certified as a Metaphysical Spiritual Counselor by the Holmes Institute for over 10 years. Years ago I worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, Africa where I worked with mothers around nutrition and infant care in a small village. For over thirty years I have grown from the teachings of Christianity, Metaphysics, Indigenous cultures and Buddhism, and have gone through a number of ‘crisis of faith’ every time I felt called to expand my understanding of God, Life, others, and my purpose here as a spiritual being in a human body. In addition to coaching I have facilitated groups and taught classes on the Law of Attraction, Prayer and Meditation, and Conscious Evolution. I live in beautiful Santa Fe, NM with my wonderful husband and son, along with our dog, cat and chickens.
